Fujitsu starts offering Emillion's Distal authentication as a service
Fujitsu Services Oy, the leading provider of ICT services in Finland, and
Emillion, a forerunner in identity and access management solutions, have agreed
that Fujitsu will start offering Emillion's Distal authentication as a
service to its customers.
"Distal authentication becomes a part of our IAM offering (Identity and Access
Management). It can be acquired as a part of our Patja service or as a
stand-alone service. Distal can also be integrated with outher authentication
mechanisms. Distal is very suitable for instance for organisations offering
extranets to their customers",
says Petri Heinälä, R&D manager at Fujitsu Service development.
Distal authentication is based on the utilization of the user's intranet user
profile. Distal fetches selected user identity information via the intranet of
the customer and passes it to the service using Distal authentication. The user
gets automatic access to the service based on that information, without having
to sign on again. The solution does not require software installation or
integration projects by the end customers, instead it uses system already used
by them. Easier sign-on and simplified user management drives usage, brings
cost savings and improves security to both service providers and their
customers.
"We are often asked for the possibility to buy Distal authentication as a
service, and to outsource the administration of it. These services provided by
Fujitsu offer very significant answers to both questions", says Kjell Backlund, CEO
at Emillion.
