Fujitsu improves Patja customer portal usability with Emillion's Distal
authentication
Fujitsu Services Oy, the leading provider of ICT services in Finland, and
Emillion, a forerunner in identity and access management solutions, have agreed
on deploying Emillion's Distal authentication solution in the customer
portals Fujitsu offers its customers as part of its Patja service.
"From a customer service point of view, easy to use web services are very
important. How easy or difficult it is for users to authenticate impacts
user experience significantly and therefore affects how much the service is
being used", explains Arto Kahila, service director at Fujitsu.
Distal authentication will be used in service management related portals, where
customers can make service requests. Customers can also investigate their own
open amd closed service requests through the portal.
"Customer authentication is very easy with Distal, the customer just clicks a
link in his own intranet. Customers experience our service as a seamless
part of his own intranet. Roll-out in customer intranets is also very easy, and
it does not require particular technical expertise", Kahila continues.
Distal authentication is based on the utilization of the user's intranet user
profile. Distal fetches selected user identity information from the intranet
and passes it to Fujitsu's service portal. The user is automatically
authenticated based on that information, without having to sign on again. Easier
sign-on and simplified user management drives usage, brings cost savings and
improves security to both Fujitsu and its customers.
"We are very satisfied that Fujitsu chose Distal as the authentication solution
for their Patja customer portals. Easy authentication makes the web site the easiest
service channel from the customer's point of view", says Kjell
Backlund, CEO at Emillion.
